Question of the Week: Eyeliner

Have a beauty question that you would like me to answer? Message me your questions about skincare, makeup, and beauty. I'll feature your question and my best response in my Question of the Week segment! Today's question:
Q: How do I stop my eyeliner from running/bleeding under my lower lashes? -MK Fan, New Jersey

A: Be sure to invest in a great pencil liner. The reason your liner bleeds may be either that your liner is cheaply made and likely contains a lot of oil, or the skin around your eye area is oily.

To avoid having your eyeliner run, be sure to apply your liner on a freshly cleansed and moisturized face. I'm sure all of you out there are faithfully cleansing and moisturizing your faces twice a day, no matter your skin type, right? *hint, hint*

You may also want to apply loose powder around your eye area (and the rest of your face) with a large, fluffy brush after applying your foundation. This will set your liner and give it something to which it may adhere. If your skin is super-oily, do a couple touch-ups from your compact during the day. Also, be sure to keep from caking your liner on. A thin line in a single layer is all you need. If your liner is thickly applied, most of it is caked on top of the bottom layer, making it more likely to travel to other parts of your face since there is little to adhere to ;)

Sounds like a lot to worry about, doesn't it? What I love about Mary Kay is they have a fabulous Eye Liner that is smudge-proof, waterproof, and long-wearing. It's a retractable pencil, so no worries about sharpening. Glides on easily, so you're not pulling and tugging at your sensitive eye area. Yet another product that I can't do without!

I hope this is helpful!
Love and Beauty,
Chrystal
